It's Go Time!
How’s that for an opening picture. Just a few… :) pictures from the half mile event that took place this past Saturday. I almost didn't go, but thank God for Gary's (Slider) late email Friday night. He swung me to go and boy am I glad I did. I'm not much for straight line racing, but it was still awesome to see all those cars run. Rain cut the event short by about 2 hours, but it was still fun and had a great day. These are just a few pictures that Gary took. There are a lot more that you can see on his website under “Special Events” at http://www.garyrobertphotography.com/ ]"> [ http://www.garyrobertphotography.com/ ] Anyways, on to the pictures!

I remember BOOZTD 3’s first run. Unaware that it was an RB, I was expecting it to be fast, but not that fast. Right after the launch I knew it wasn’t a VG..

Pretty much the whole reason I wanted to go was to watch this car. It held the fastest speed on Saturday with a 209 MPH. http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab201/akdawgg99/GoFast-8032_zpsce5b0ccd.jpg ]">

The second fastest car of the day came in at a 204 MPH. Apparently it is the fastest talon in the world (second behind a tube frame talon, which doesn’t count). We actually missed the first run; we were walking back to the car so Gary could change lenses when we heard something screaming and we saw this red blur fly by – we made sure to be there for its next run.

This was a 1600 HP 240sx running a 2JZ. They said that at 40 psi they were making around 1600 HP, but only running 1100 during the event due to it being their first time taking it to the track. He took a slow start going up to third gear, punched it and just spun the tires – definitely looked like a handful.
The owner of the airfield took his dune buggy out during lunch. He floored it while there were a bunch of people around, but I guess you don’t need brains to be rich. It did 133 MPH.
And last but not least….
